Motorist awarded damages after injuring spine in accident
A man who injured his spine in a car accident has been awarded £3,100 compensation.
The 32-year-old was driving along a main road when another vehicle crashed into the side of his car. He sustained neck, shoulder and spine injuries.
He had to take a week off work and was unable to play sports for two weeks. He underwent 10 sessions of physiotherapy over a three-month period.
Two months after the accident he had a full range of movement but experienced tenderness upon touching the affected areas. He reported that at this date his symptoms were at a constant mild to moderate level.
The injuries and symptoms weren’t fully healed and resolved until eight months after the accident.
He took legal action against the other driver claiming that he was negligent in failing to pay attention.
The other driver admitted liability and agreed a settlement of £3,100. This was to cover the victim’s pain, suffering and loss of amenity.
