The Company

Owen White & Catlin LLP has been established since 1921 and we have an extensive network of seven offices providing legal services to South West London, Surrey and Middlesex. We take great pride in our personal service and the accessibility of our lawyers. Our office ours are 9am to 5pm with 1-hour unpaid lunch break (35 hours a week.)

Paralegal Role:

The Paralegal reports directly into the Fee earner

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all new client documentation and the administration of opening and closing files
  • Maintaining an effective and ordered filing system for allocated cases
  • Preparing of client invoicing and managing banking slips
  • Assisting clients with updates when fee earner is not available
  • Ensure compliance with professional standards and the firm’s policies in general
  • Preparing bundles
  • Conducting legal research
  • Drafting legal documents

The Ideal Paralegal:

As a Paralegal it is essential you can demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office software
  • Calm, confident manner to handle potentially uncomfortable conversations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous legal work experience or academic knowledge
  • Good attention to detail 
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

It is also desirable you can demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of Proclaim

Essential

  • Degree 2:1
  • Legal Practice Course or to be working towards this qualification
