Alisha Kumar – Senior Associate, Wills and Probate

Alisha Kumar is a senior associate in the Wills and Probate team in Hammersmith. She joined Owen White Catlin in 2018 as a Paralegal, before going on to qualify as a Solicitor then promoted to Associate.

Reflecting on her first years with OWC, Alisha describes the support from her peers and colleagues:

“I really enjoyed my time as a Paralegal, the support I was shown really paved the way for my career. I wasn’t just given the administrative tasks to do, I was also given the chance to help with challenging cases and build my knowledge and expertise. Not every law firm explores the potential in their staff like that.”

After just a year, Alisha was offered a training contract and went on to qualify and practice in the Wills and Probate team, working alongside Partner Elnora Terakopian from the Hammersmith office:

“The team equipped me with the tools, experience, and confidence I needed during my training contract. From enabling me to work on a case from start to finish to guiding me when I had questions or needed their expertise. I’ve also given the opportunity to grow my professional reputation by developing skills such as building professional relationships, networking, and even public speaking!”

Reflecting on the culture at OWC, Alisha says:

“When I qualified, the transition from trainee to solicitor was an easy one – it really didn’t feel any different. I believe that’s down to the trust and support I have always been shown since my first days as a Paralegal through to the training I received during my training contract.

“Starting as a Paralegal gives you a unique insight into a law firm – from how the departments work right through to the culture. It made my training contract easier to complete as I knew I wanted to stay here after qualifying.

Alisha goes on to describe the championing of her career by her colleagues:

“The relationships colleagues have with one another is genuine, everyone feels like family here. People take the time for one another and want to see each other excel.

At OWC, the opportunity to progress is always here. The firm and my colleagues have always given me the tools to further my career.”
